Sticky Header Grid Layout Manager

Android RecyclerView sticky header list/grid layout.

Download

Download the latest AAR or grab via Gradle:

compile 'com.codewaves.stickyheadergrid:stickyheadergrid:0.9.6'

Features

  • Sticky section headers
  • Individually control header stickiness
  • Span support like in GridLayoutManager
  • Header bottom shadows
  • Header state listener
  • Smooth scrolling
  • Scrollbars

Usage

To use library:

  1. Implement an adapter by subclassing StickyHeaderGridAdapter
  2. Create holder class for each header and item type. Use HeaderViewHolder and ItemViewHolder as base classes.
  3. Override and implement getSectionCount(), getSectionItemCount(int section), onCreateHeaderViewHolder(ViewGroup parent, int headerType), onCreateItemViewHolder(ViewGroup parent, int itemType), onBindHeaderViewHolder(HeaderViewHolder viewHolder, int section), onBindItemViewHolder(ItemViewHolder viewHolder, int section, int offset).
  4. Create a StickyHeaderGridLayoutManager with required column count and assign it to your RecyclerView.
  5. Use only StickyHeaderGridAdapter::notify* methods

If you need the position of an item in a click listener, always use holder .getAdapterPosition() which will have the correct adapter position.

holder.<clickable view>.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {

 @Override
 public void onClick(View v) {

 final int section = getAdapterPositionSection(holder.getAdapterPosition());

 final int offset = getItemSectionOffset(section, holder.getAdapterPosition());

  // Do click action here using setction and offset

}

}
);

Span support

Like in GridLayoutManager, use SpanSizeLookup to provide span information.

Individual stickiness

Override adapter isSectionHeaderSticky method and return true to make section header sticky, false otherwise.

Header bottom shadow

Because of the limitation of old Android platforms we cannot use an elevation. Little workaround was made to support bottom header shadows. Use layout manager .setHeaderBottomOverlapMargin method to set size of the header overlapping part and insert shadow into header layout. Overlapping part will be drawn over the first section item.

Header state listener

Use HeaderStateChangeListener to receive information about headers state.

AndroidGestureRecognizer is an Android implementation of the Apple's UIGestureRecognizer framework. https://developer.apple.com/reference/uikit/uigesturerecognizer

For more info about the ui gesture recognizers look this WWDC video https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2012/233/

From Apple API reference:

UIGestureRecognizer is an abstract base class for concrete gesture-recognizer classes. A gesture-recognizer object—or, simply, a gesture recognizer—decouples the logic for recognizing a gesture and acting on that recognition. When one of these objects recognizes a common gesture or, in some cases, a change in the gesture, it sends an action message to each designated target object.

A Android sample that implements Redux architecture (using Fluxxan and Anvil) and NoSQL (using SnappyDB).

EasyFlow is a simple and lightweight Finite State Machine for Java

With EasyFlow you can:

  • implement complex logic but keep your code simple and clean
  • handle asynchronous calls with ease and elegance
  • avoid concurrency by using event-driven programming approach
  • avoid StackOverflow error by avoiding recursion
  • simplify design, programming and testing of complex java applications

DroidValidate is an annotation-based input validation library for Android.

A simple spannable string helper.

Smart Fonts is an Android Studio Library which makes it easy to use Custom Fonts (TTF or OTF) in your apps. It handles the Android text widgets (TextView, EditText, CheckBox, RadioButton...). You can add any other widgets easily, including your own classes!

You can use Styles, and see the result directly in the Layout Editor!

A manager handles the caching of the fonts so that they are loaded only once. If a font is not used it is not loaded.

It is easy to integrate with gradle.
